Hi, I’m Emily…
I was born and raised in the Lake District, a place many people travel across the world to visit. Growing up here meant the mountains, lakes, and valleys were always part of everyday life — but like many locals, I’m only just beginning to realise how many hidden corners of this incredible place I’ve never truly discovered.
Recently, I made the decision to take a step back from my career path to truly reset. This time has become about resting, calming my mind, getting my health back on track, and finding my passions again. It’s about slowing down, reconnecting with myself, and appreciating the place I’m lucky enough to call home.
Hidden Lakes was born from that moment…
It started as a personal journey to explore more of the Lake District — not just the well-known landmarks, but the quieter, lesser-known places that often go unnoticed. The Lake District is famous for its iconic views, but beyond the well-trodden paths there are countless hidden gems waiting to be found.
Through Hidden Lakes, I’ll be discovering and sharing these special places — from tucked-away pubs and historic taverns to cosy cafés, independent shops, boutique hotels, and peaceful walking routes. Along the way, I’ll also be uncovering the lesser-known history and local stories that give each place its character, as well as capturing the stunning scenery and wildlife that make this area so special.
Some of these places are hidden in small villages, others are found at the end of winding country lanes or after a scenic walk through the fells. Many are the kinds of places you might only hear about through locals or stumble upon by accident — and those are often the most memorable.
This project isn’t about ticking off the most famous landmarks. It’s about slowing down, rediscovering joy in the simple things, and celebrating the quieter side of the Lake District — the places that feel special, authentic, and a little bit secret.
